False color image of the area around Changjiang mouth by HISEA-2 satellite

The cover image is a false color image of the area around Changjiang mouth, obtained by HISEA-2 on June 23, 2021. It vividly shows the high concentration of suspended sediments for waters around ChongMing Island and its dynamic variations of nearby regions, as well as the many boats around the river mouth. HISEA-2 is the first smallsat aimed at water color observations that simultaneously has high spatial resolution (20 m), large swath (~200 km) and high signal-noise ratio (~300 dB) at eight spectral bands in the visible-NIR domain. Its successful launch and operation will greatly enhance the observations and management of aquatic ecosystems in nearshore and inland lake environments.
